J. Kirven has graced the decks in various cities across Central Virginia, including D.C. and the 757 area, bringing a diverse range of musical styles to his performances. Inspired by the vibrant house music scene in South Africa, his sets are infused with the infectious rhythms of Amapiano, Afrotech, and Deep House. With a sonic journey that tends towards the spiritual, J. Kirven's goal is to create an atmosphere where people can find their inner peace while vibing and dancing to his music. With a lifelong passion for music, J. Kirven began playing drums at the age of 3, performing at church and school events. After graduating high school, he transitioned to playing in bands around town. In 2014, he discovered a new passion for photography and film. His first photography publication was in Afro Punk magazine in 2015, and he premiered his first short film at the Afrikana film festival in 2017.Additionally, J. Kirven is the founder of Electric Sun Society, an organization dedicated to producing events and experiences that cultivate a space for true music enthusiasts to dance outside of regular club culture. Electric Sun Society focuses on sharing new and inspiring international sounds from the Afro-diaspora, aiming to educate about the diverse Afro electronic sounds from around the world.
